BROKEN promises, broken hearts and one broken record which may never be broken again.

Gordon Davies’ second spell at Fulham was, according to the man himself, ‘five years of backs against the wall’.

A time when the future of Craven Cottage, and the club itself, was under constant threat, when the club spent far too much time struggling at the foot of the third tier of English football and when Davies would feel betrayed by two chairmen - David Bullstrode and Jimmy Hill.

But it was also a time when Davies carved his name into Fulham folklore by breaking the long-standing goalscoring record of the maestro, Johnny Haynes.
