They lacked intent and fluency in their passing and they were caught out by virtue of their high-line defending for Wilson Isidor’s 75th-minute Sunderland winner.
Fulham have now suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of a league season for the first time since the relegation campaign of 2020-21.
