For all the talk of being aggressive off the ball and playing like Spartan warriors, Arbeloa’s team suffered the worst start to a Premier League season in history – no team has previously conceded a goal as early as 31 seconds into a new campaign.
There were some serious positives from Monday’s SW6 derby – goals and hugely promising performances from Josh King and Gonzalo Garcia, a thrilling and manic high press, another promising display from the resurgent Timothy Castagne and a composed debut as a sub from Shea Charles.
